Don’t get me wrong, I’m no fan of thievery and fraud, but this is also a prime example of what can happen when when you don’t remember that Amendment 5 applies at all times and that “right to remain silent” is a subset of Amendment 1, which also applies at all times. They could have gotten away with just a speeding ticket. Had they obeyed the speed limit signs, they probably would be running around free still right now, but, since criminals tend to not obey laws in the first place...

Recently a deputy assigned to the Central Oklahoma Metro Interdiction Team (COMIT) stopped a vehicle for speeding near I-35 & Britton Road. While speaking with the 3-people inside the small Honda SUV the deputy saw several items in the back of the vehicle. Those items included 13 Dyson vacuum cleaners, 22 Nest thermostats, and 5 Nest cameras. The individuals all had different stories about where the good came from, and eventually the deputy was able to determine the electronics were from a national department store. Department store security was contacted and confirmed the items were purchased from their stores by different credit cards with the same individuals name. The property worth more than $15,000 was booked as evidence, and charges are pending. Our COMIT deputies work with the Oklahoma County District Attorney's Office, and Oklahoma City Police Department working the interstates looking for dangerous drugs and human trafficking.

Big shout out to our Warrant Team on the streets of Oklahoma County arresting dangerous felons. While we were out with them today they picked up 75% of their outstanding warrant targets. #FugitiveFriday #OkCSO
